This painting was done on a whim. I had never tried painting oil on canvas before, but I bought the canvas (professional quality) as well as an assortment of brushes, and a mortar and pestle. I made my own paints from only one red, blue, yellow, black and white tints, although I made some of my own tint by burning my thinner soaked paper towels and using the ashes to make a rusty colored tint.
This painting represents a sower (farmer) who is dropping hearts as seeds, in order to inspire love in others to produce a harvest of good things in their lives. As I was painting this piece, I didn’t know at all what I was doing or how to proceed, so I just went for it with the goal of being honest with what I was feeling and seeing each time I picked up my brush.
